The Pircher-Lercher Family – your hosts
What makes the Blumenhotel so special? It’s without doubt the genuine passion, the warm hospitality, the relaxed attitude typical of South Tyrol and the highest levels of professionalism your hosts, Helene Pircher and Stefan Lercher, expertly combine in their work.
They and their team are always there for you, providing an attentive service that ensures you have the holiday you deserve. While Helene leads the reception team and provides expert advice in the dining room in her capacity as our sommelier, her husband, head chef Stefan, creates delectable dishes for you in our kitchen.
The couple have been running the Blumenhotel for ten years now. This truly is a family business, as Helene’s parents originally opened a bed and breakfast, called the “Pension Baumgartnerhof”, on this spot fifty years ago.
In the meantime, much blood, sweat and tears have gone into transforming the Baumgartnerhof into the four-star Blumenhotel it is today… an establishment in which our guests can enjoy all the comforts they expect while on holiday, with some South Tyrolean charm and tradition thrown in for good measure!

We would be delighted to help you select your wine, imparting interesting snippets of information about the peculiarities of each one. Indeed, landlady Helene is a certified sommelier and will know exactly which drop will compliment both your meal and the atmosphere in our cosy dining room. Cheers!
Our emphasis lies on quality Italian wines, and on South Tyrolean ones in particular. All are ideal additions to the culinary creations you’ll order from our kitchen. We also have a range of international varieties for you choose from.

REGIONAL & AUTHENTICITY
Stefan places high emphasis on working with regional produce and our own herb and vegetable garden is evidence of this. He makes as much as he can himself – from juices and smoothies for breakfast to dumplings and pasta for dinner.
Honest cuisine and authenticity you can taste! Our aperitif reception on Sunday evenings is definitely a highlight each week. This isn’t just the opportunity to get to know your hosts, it’s also a chance to chat with the other guests over a refreshing drink and some tasty snacks.
The subsequent gala dinner is an exquisite experience, with a six-course meal and the best wines.
STEFAN LERCHER – HOW IT ALL BEGAN
“Our guests should take enough time to enjoy themselves. It’s great see people enjoying themselves and to know that they’ve eaten well.”
With these words, you can easily recognise that enjoyment – particularly where cuisine is concerned – is a top priority at the Blumenhotel. Your host and head chef, Stefan Lercher, has held this belief for a long time and this is his motivation for the delectable delights he conjures up in the kitchen.
That the Blumenhotel has become an exclusive gourmet hotel is completely down to his engagement and creativity in bringing imaginative dishes to the table. Having grown up in nearby Val Passiria, Stefan completed his training at the Hotel Majestic in Riscone.
His career has seen him work in several notable gastronomic establishments. For example, he worked as a chef pastissier at the Hotel Feldmüllerhof in Campo Tures, as a sous chef at the renowned Zur Rose in Appiano and as head chef at the Zum Hirschen restaurant in Vilpiano.
He was also able to show what he’s made of at restaurants abroad, for example at the Tantris in Munich and the Oscar in Zürich. Stefan has been spoiling our guests with us culinary creations at the Blumenhotel since 2010.
His imagination, passion and attention to detail helps him to create light dishes, with Tyrolean and Mediterranean influences, using fresh, natural ingredients. His team of five staff ensure that you’ll want for nothing. Each of the twelve dishes on the menu always come with the perfect wine accompaniment, if you would like it.

MASSAGES AND MORE
Welcome to the “Blütenoase”! The German term for “floral oasis”, our spa hotel in Scena’s relaxation and health centre is your port of call for mind, body and soul well-being.
Whether you’d like a cosmetic treatment, a massage or a spa package especially tailored to your requirements, one thing is clear – nothing is impossible!
Choose from the wide variety of treatments we have on offer: Hamam, baths, packs, massages and our individual beauty packages ensure all round well-being. You’ll definitely feel spoilt!
Especially developed for your skin, we only use cosmetics from the Piroche Cosmétiques range, a brand from Merano, for our facial and body treatments.
Detoxifying your skin is an important stage in the procedure – only when all impurities are removed can your skin absorb the beneficial ingredients contained within. Put yourself in the expert hands of our spa team and let them pamper you.
Particularly popular among our guests is the bioenergetic vacuum drainage treatment – it starts with a cleansing back massage and culminates in an intense facial treatment.
We use various oils, packs, masks and serums to make the skin soft to the touch and your tissues feel strengthened. You’ll feel equally as rejuvenated after a hay bath, prepared using organic hay from South Tyrolean farms, or a dip in our whirlpool.
THE MAGIC OF THE ORIENT
A traditional Hamam doesn’t just cleanse and relax your skin and scalp; it looks after your mind, body and soul, too… This traditional Turkish ritual is also perfect for interpersonal communication, making it the perfect treatment for you and your partner. Let us pamper you both on your holiday in Scena.
Your body is warmed for twenty minutes on the 37°C marble table so as to prepare you in the best way for the Hamam wash. Then comes the whole body peeling, performed with a special kind of peeling glove called a kese.
The result is silky soft skin that has room to breathe again. Next comes the ritual wash and foam massage, performed with pure bay leaf soap with olive extract. You will leave feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and revitalised.
Your scalp and hair will also be washed and your head will be massaged. At the end, a cup of Turkish tea in the quiet zone rounds the experience off perfectly.
Family Holiday near Merano
Are you looking forward to taking a holiday as a family? Then, at the four-star Blumenhotel in Scena, you’re in the right place! Our swimming pools, the playground and playroom are a special highlight for your kids while on holiday in Scena.
Family holidays here are really exciting and interesting. In the school holidays, the Scena tourist office offers a diverse programme of activities centred around learning, play and adventure.
IN THE HEART OF THE MERANO AREA
Scena is always worth a visit and a stroll through the village centre is a highly pleasurable experience. As we’re only a stone’s throw away, you can be there in a matter of minutes. Just take the path that starts just 100m from the Blumenhotel and you’ll be there in a flash.
Then, the choice is yours… you can visit the church hill and the Maria Assunta Parish Church. The old church backs directly onto the new one and is the home to some interesting pre-Christian excavations that were discovered during renovation works a few years ago.
These finds prove that Scena has always been a heavily spiritual and religious place. The mausoleum, the final resting place of Archduke Johann of Austria and his family, and Scena castle are also well worth a visit. If retail therapy is your bag, a shopping trip could be a fitting end to the day.
The other villages in the Merano area, such as Tirolo and Lana, also have a lot to offer. The jewel in the crown, however, with its piazzas, promenades and pergolas, has to be the beautiful spa town of Merano itself. Shopping, fun, art, culture… you name it, Merano has it!
A historical mystery tour, a visit to an exhibition, an aperitif on Piazza Terme and a little dolce vita all’italiana guarantee the perfect atmosphere and counterbalance an active day in the mountains perfectly.
Our Tip: Trauttmansdorff Castle is the prime day out for all those who love the beauty of nature and exquisite flowers. A trip to Trauttmansdorff and a stay at the Blumenhotel go hand in hand!
HIKING, BIKING AND MORE
Scena and the area surrounding Merano truly are a paradise for hiking enthusiasts and those who like to keep active while on holiday.
There are so many great hiking and rambling trails of varying difficulty, the Waalwege – the many narrow walkways that take you along the old irrigation ditches dotted around the region – will just entice you to slip on your boots and go for a walk in the valley or the highlands.
However, a holiday in the Merano area shouldn’t just feature hiking… there’s so much more for you to discover here
Hiking
The hiking trails that snake their way from pasture to pasture, through the Punta Cervina and Picco Ivigna areas, above Scena are magnificent. Walk among Alpine roses and forests or, even, above the tree line and follow these paths to beautiful places.
The cable cars and chair lifts will take you in comfort to the altitude you desire. Marvel at the pristine countryside on the mountains, take a moment for a pitstop at one of the many authentic Alpine inns and bask in the joy of hiking!
Bike Heaven
If hiking isn’t your thing, there are other things you can do to stay active. Hop on your mountain bike or racing bike. You could even take a tour on an e-bike. There are also child-friendly cycle paths here that your kids will love!
Pure Adrenaline
Nordic walking, paragliding, tandem parachute jumping, rafting, canyoning, climbing and swimming are just a handful of the many activities you can take part in during your active holiday in South Tyrol and the Merano area. Try a couple out for yourself!
THE SIGHTS IN THE MERANO AREA
Merano and the surrounding area are just perfect for those who want to experience the cultural side of Scena. Castles and churches, the pergolas in the centre, Merano cathedral and the four towers on the old town boundary show Merano’s history as the regional capital of Tyrol and the town’s significance in the Middle Ages.
The magnificent 19th century buildings are evidence of the town’s palatial history. The entire region of South Tyrol offers countless opportunities for experiencing local history, the development of farming culture and life in the mountains first hand.
Day Trips
South Tyrol… land of churches, monasteries and museums. A day trip to one of these wonderful sites is highly recommended. It doesn’t matter if you make a tour of the Dolomites UNESCO world heritage site, a trip to Lago do Caldaro or even go to Verona to the opera.
There are also other exciting attractions really close by, such as the archaeology museum in Bolzano or the Messner Mountain Museums, Tirolo Castle with its museum of local history and culture or the Touriseum in the Trauttmansdorff castle gardens in Merano.
Shopping
Merano and Bolzano are ideal for retail therapy outings! Local, handmade clothing, food, designer objects or furniture can be found alongside more well known, international brands.
The typical pergolas in the Merano old town, with its 13th century arcades, provide the right kind of flair and, when this is coupled with the views of this magnificent mountain world, a first rate shopping experience is guaranteed.
