In the heart of the famous Crete Senesi, surrounded by the most evocative views of the Tuscan countryside, stands Castello di Leonina, a thirteenth-century fortress that was formerly the residence of the Chigi family and the country residence of future Pope Alexander VII, and is today an exclusive 4-star hotel just outside Siena.

Immersed in a wonderful panorama between Siena and Asciano, Castello di Leonina came back to life in 2003, after long and accurate renovation works. The facility aims to offer moments of peace and quiet, in harmony with history and the surrounding nature.

This Relais, which is eprfect for your luxury holidays in Tuscany, has 20 rooms, including deluxe and comfort suites, the La Terrazza di Leonina restaurant, a Wellness Point, an outdoor swimming pool with salty water and a Meeting Room for business events and conferences.

La Terrazza di Leonina is our luxury restaurant, the magical place we are proud of. It stands out for the high quality of the dishes served, based on the recipe books of the ancient Tuscan tradition. Here you can taste light and refined dishes, accompanied by the best wines of the area.

THE CHEF
Mirko Vaselli is from Siena in Tuscany and with a respectable course, maybe because he grew up with cuisine. His father Fabio is a great expert in flours and dough, in fact the pizza of his pizzeria-restaurant Piccolo Mondo is one of the most appreciated in Siena, while is mother Tiziana opened the first restaurant-pizzeria in Italy specialized in gluten free products, yeast, lactose and eggs free, the Piccola Oasi in Asciano, Siena.

So, when Mirko started to attend the hotel school in Chianciano, he had already some years of training. He had various experiences in structures between Switzerland and Abruzzo, up to the Antica Corte Pallavicina of Massimo Spigaroli.

He spent a period on board of one of the best pleasure yacht of Italy, and then for six years he was at Castel Monastero as sous-chef (in the kitchen supervised by Gordon Ramsay).

He continued his experiences at the Restaurant Oasi in Follonica, Grosseto, at Castello di Leonina in Asciano as head chef At first and then as excecutive Chef.. Today he is also very well up-dated on gluten free cuisine, providing advices to restaurants and hotels in his area.

The Turkish Bath is ideal for gentle sweating and lots of benefits for your skin, favored by a pleasant temperature of 45 degrees in a particularly humid environment, while the Color-Aromatic Shower provides beneficial effects with its nebulizing water jets and fragrant and volatile essences.

In the Sauna the heat reach temperatures of up to 90-95°C, but thanks to low humidity (20-30%) it turns into a pleasant embrace that relaxes the muscles and helps purify the body. The wood releases the scent of nature, a primitive invitation to rediscover peace of mind and get rid of all tensions.

This Castle in Tuscany has unique and romantic spaces, including an internal courtyard with gazebo for summer ceremonies and splendid frescoed rooms for receptions in the coldest months of the year.

In the internal courtyard of the castle you can welcome your guests in the shade of the large gazebo, which can hold up to 200 people. The restaurant party hall, ideal for indoor events, has up to 100 seats. On reservation, the newlyweds and their guests can stay the night in our luxurious rooms after the ceremony.

The Castle has a large equipped kitchen and all the dishes brought to your table will be prepared on the spot and served with care, refinement and a touch of inspiration. Our banquets can be held in the large inner courtyard, in the shade of the gazebo, or in the internal rooms of the castle. Every proposal will be agreed with the chef and the newlyweds.

In the immediate vicinity of the castle there are some beautiful Romanesque churches, including the Church of the Sacred Heart (in Arbia), the church of Sant’Isidoro (in Siena), the Sanctuary of San Paolo a Presciano (in Taverne) or the Abbey of Monteoliveto Maggiore.

Be it a business breakfast, a simple meeting or a conference, our Meeting Room is the ideal environment for all business stays. It has up to 100 seats, arranged with horseshoe tables (maximum 30 people) or like theater stalls.
