A hotel with an eventful history and long tradition
When Gianpaolo Callegari purchased a plot of land in Selva Val Gardena in South Tyrol in 1954, he already had extensive experience working at several hotels internationally.

At both the Hotel Excelsior in Florence and the Hotel Dolder in Zurich, he had acquired firsthand knowledge of the international hotel business. In 1960, the Hotel Genziana opened its doors to guests seeking relaxation in the Dolomites.

Numerous expansions and renovations followed in the years to come: the indoor pool was added in 1977, and the spa and sauna area in 2005, along with a guest lounge and various suites.

When Gianpaolo died in 1991, his wife Alberta took over operation of the hotel. Today she continues to work alongside her daughter Petra, who runs the 4-star Hotel Genziana and welcomes guests from all over the world.

Genziana Suite
An exclusive and cosy place where you can relax, enjoying all things good for your body and soul. The area has a water bed which, thanks to the temperature it reaches (37/38 °C), favours relaxation in the musculature, as well as absorption of the active ingredients applied. It is used for specific treatments like detoxing, relaxing, nutritious and moisturising compresses.

Imperial Bath
Let yourself be carried away by the pleasant aromatic scents of essential oils of mint, lavender, rosemary, bitter orange and petit grain, given off by this beautiful bath, accompanied by wonderful massaging water jets. Here, you will experience olfactory emotions that will put you through a real ritual, harmonising your energy.

Wellness booths
The spa area has three booths where you will find the intimacy necessary for specific facial and body treatments, as well as massages.

Tilia Firming Body Mask
Tilia, a firming mask rich in sodium, magnesium and potassium, endows the skin with new youthfulness, firming it and toning it. The special composition of its clay content restores the natural electrolyte balance of the skin, while a blend of dermofunctional substances ensures protection against early aging and endows elasticity.

Aesthetic foot reflexology
The peculiarity of the technique consists in stimulating certain points on the sole of the foot which correspond to reflex zones of our internal organs. This form of massage diminishes feelings of stress and inner tension by improving blood circulation and loosening muscle strains.

Abhyanga
This is an Indian technique used to restore deep balance. Ayurvedic massage is a treatment that acts on the entire body, using a variety of manipulations and stimulations, accompanied by the use of oils chosen depending on the different body types of the subjects.

These particular oils reinforce muscles and articulations, strengthening and firming tissues, nourishing the skin, and providing light. Harmonises the mind, body and spirit.

Genziana Ritual
A beauty ritual based on the Alpine orchid. The body treatment starts with a delicate peel, which prepares the skin to absorb the moisturising properties of the cream compress, also orchid-based.

Delicate, sensitive, and elegant, but strong in the roots, the Alpine orchid provides a synergy of beneficial and natural substances, which have a moisturising and anti-ageing effect on the skin. The treatment ends with a pleasant soothing massage.

Sauna
Your Wellness Route starts here. To emphasise the effect of the treatments, it is recommended to combine each session with a Finnish sauna, a Bio sauna or a scented Turkish bath.

Hiking in the Dolomites
Surrounded by the Sella and Saslong mountain groups, Selva is located at the valley-head of Val Gardena. Mountain Biking in the Dolomites in Val Gardena
In the Val Gardena – Siusi holiday region, there are more than 30 varied MTB routes, ranging between 700 and 2,450 m in height. While beginners can cycle over wide mountain pastures, experienced mountain bikers can enjoy spectacular mountain trails such as the Sellaronda MTB Tour, leading around the well-known rock paths.

New E-Bikes also enable less experienced cyclists to reach the surrounding Alpine pastures. Whether by e-bike or classic biycle: mountain biking in the breathtaking scenery of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites is an unforgettable experience.

Tennis in Val Gardena
Together with friends, family or a professional trainer – playing tennis keeps you mentally and physically fit as well as being active and fun. Right next to the Charming Hotel Genziana is the Selva sports center, with two covered tennis courts, open daily from 10 am to midnight.

Outdoor sand courts can be found at the Tennis and Squash Center in Ortisei and the Iman Tennis Center in St. Christina, about a 10-minute drive from the Charming Hotel Genziana. By the way: our hostess Petra is an avid tennis player and is also willing to advise or give tips!

Golfing Beneath the Dolomites

The course of the St. Vigil–Seis Golf Club in the village of Castelrotto is considered one of the most beautiful 18-hole courses in northern Italy. Also in the heart of the Dolomites is another golf course, the 9-hole course of the Golf Club Alta Badia at Corvara.

Here, enthusiastic golfers may improve their tee performance or take part in tournaments held at the foot of the imposing Sella massif. The golf practice facility with eight teeing grounds in Ortisei and the driving range above Selva, in the direction of the Gardena Pass, are also ideal for daily golf training.

Winter Magic in the Dolomites
The ski area of Val Gardena is considered one of the most beautiful of its kind in the world, and rightly so. Right from the doorstep of the Charming Hotel Genziana, skiers can find their way up to the Sellaronda. And after a day’s ski tour, you may ski back down right to the hotel entrance. Experienced and more demanding skiers can also try the Saslong downhill run in Val Gardena or at the Gran Risa piste.

Away from the ski circuit, the Sella and Seiser Alm can also be explored on extensive snowshoe and winter hikes. The Sellaronda, South Tyrol’s Most Beautiful Ski Tour
The starting point to the most spectacular ski tour in South Tyrol is located directly in front of our hotel door. Only a few meters away you will reach the ski lift and thus the entrance to skiing pleasure of the highest class – in the world-famous Sellaronda.

A combination of ski tour and downhill skiing, it leads around the well-known Sella massif and offers 26 kilometers of the finest pure enjoyment on the slopes, surrounded by the unique panorama of the Dolomites.

For skiing around the entire Sella massif (i.e. Sellaronda) you should plan six hours. Passionate skiers can extend the Sellaronda, for example, to the more demanding Saslong World Cup downhill slope.

Skiing in Selva Val Gardena
The Val Gardena offers a fabulous total of 175 kilometers of ski slopes at heights between 1,230 and 2,540 meters above sea level. Beginners can practice on the gentle slopes of Monte Pana, while more advanced skiers can explore their limits on the World Cup downhill slope from Ciampinoi to St. Christina. The highlight of skiing in the area is the world-famous Sellaronda.

Val Gardena was the venue of the Alpine World Ski Championships and even today the elite of the ski sports world meet every year for the World Cup Downhill and the Super-G on the Saslong slope.

The Val Gardena ski resort forms part of the Dolomiti Superski network, the world’s largest ski resort network. Whether you are a skier, snowboarder or freerider – your Alpine holiday in the Dolomites will remain in your memories for a long time to come.

Cross-Country Skiing in and around Selva Val Gardena
Cross-country skiing makes twice as much fun with a view of the spectacularly shaped Dolomite peaks. With 55 km of cross-country trails between 1,200 and 2,000 m above sea level, the Val Gardena resort offers more than “just” a great panorama to cross-country skiers: you will find 18 idyllic trails in the original Langental, located about one kilometer northeast of the hotel.

At the entrance to the Langental is also the “Nordic Activ Park”, a training center for cross-country skiiers and biathletes. Further trails can be found at the scenic Monte-Pana high plateau at S. Cristina, and on the sunny plateau Alpe di Siusi.

Ice Skating with a View of the Dolomites
Glide elegantly over the ice with the Dolomites in sight – ice skating can add variety to any ski holiday! The Pranives Ice Rink is about five minutes’ walk from the Charming Hotel Genziana and is open from early December to early April.

The neighboring villages also offer opportunities to try out tricks on a pair of skates – at the natural ice skating rink in St. Christina and the skating rink Setil in Ortisei. Ice skating has a long tradition in Val Gardena, continuing until today. For example the figure skating world champion Carolina Kostner comes from Ortisei in Val Gardena.

Winter and Snowshoeing in Selva Val Gardena
How about a snowshoe hike through snow-covered forests? Discover Val Gardena Valley on snowshoes! Winter hiking and snowshoeing are gentle sports, where you can either enjoy relaxing treks along cleared paths, or hike more actively through the deep snow to the next snow-covered Alpine pasture.

Many ski lifts are also accessible to pedestrians in winter and bring you to the starting point of the tour. Beautiful winter hikes also lead up to the Alpe di Siusi or the Raschötz.
