About an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge awaits a veritable country within a wondrous state, where natural beauty unites with the world-renowned California artists and artisans to inspire the senses. They call it Healdsburg.
Whether you’re visiting to sample from an abundance of world-class wineries, to feast from the very best in farm-to-table dining, or just to explore the picture-perfect countryside of lush valleys and redwood forests that cradle Lake Sonoma and the Russian River, you will delight in everything… but the leaving.
Wine Country
More than 100 wineries are within a 20-minute drive right out of our front door (literally). Tasting is our favorite pastime and our local wine makers and tasting staffs are down to earth and easy going. You don’t have to be a wine expert, just taste and have fun.
The Wine Road
Founded more than 30 years ago, Wine Road is an association of wineries and lodgings in the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valleys of Northern Sonoma County. From its modest beginning as an organization of nine wineries, it has grown into a spirited constellation of more than 150 wineries and over 50 lodgings.
It’s not actually a “road” in the sense of a single, continuous stretch of paved highway, but more of a treasure map to the many jewels nestled among the hills and valleys of a region where fresh air, fine wine and exquisite cuisine await those who traverse it.
Dining
Healdsburg offers many fine restaurants to choose from when you travel to the Sonoma County wine country. From coffee to deli, bakery to bistro, picnic to world-class cuisine, meals are highlighted by the finest wines from premium quality Sonoma wineries.
Visitors to Healdsburg can experience dining any way they want it, whether it be Mexican food, Chinese food, Italian food, Thai food, French food, seafood, healthy organic vegetarian food, pizza, or hamburgers.

Kuleto Estate
Located on the Eastern Edge of the Napa Valley overlooking Lake Hennessey and the Town of Rutherford, this extraordinary mountaintop estate features 82 individual vineyard blocks, three distinct soil types and a range of elevations and exposures. From this rich and diverse palette of fruit, Kuleto Estate produces a small portfolio of exceptional estate-grown wines.
Merus
When a wine is made with the most carefully chosen fruit, in very small quantities, with unsparing attention to detail, a new level of excellence becomes possible. Merus is handmade in every sense of the word. It is Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville, one of the last great undiscovered territories in southern Napa Valley.
Winemaker David Lattin and Director of Winemaking Paul Hobbs ensure that severe pruning, cluster sorting, small-lot fermentations and careful lot selection combine to create a wine that is dense, concentrated and nuanced.
