Set in the splendid natural setting of the Ngonia del Tono di Milazzo, Ngonia Bay is a brand new building that rises behind a historic building that once belonged to noble families engaged in the management of the ancient Tonnara di Milazzo.
Ngonia Bay was born from the passion and pride for the extraordinary heritage typical of Sicily, made up of history and traditions, colors, aromas and bright, intense and overwhelming flavors.
A land of strong contrasts, where over the centuries, peoples who came as conquerors remain bewitched by the magic of Sicily and blend with the local people, leaving traces in the culture, in the places, in the cuisine.
Ngonia, ie corner, is the term with which the Greeks called this strip of promontory framed between sky and sea, whipped by the wind and parched by the sun. Sprinkled with myrtle, broom and caper. Ancient recipes, simple ingredients and Sicilianity. This is Ngonia Bay!
The ‘Ngònia square hosts the old warehouses towards the south – renovated just a few years ago – which for centuries offered shelter to the tonnara boats (muciàra, palischermi or bastardi, buddunàru, portachiàra, gabanèlla, etc.).
On the other hand, facing the sea, the buildings that belonged to the two aristocratic families that own the Tonnara del Tono, the D’Amico and the Calapaj, rise.

MILAZZO
Long known as “The Pearl of the Tyrrhenian”, Milazzo stands on a peninsula culminating with a small promontory that, pointing to the Aeolian Islands, extends over the sea between the Gulf of Patti and Messina, allowing the simultaneous view of the volcanoes Etna, Stromboli and Vulcano.
Founded by the Greeks in 761 a. C., due to its natural beauty and privileged geographical position, Milazzo was for a long time disputed by populations who occupied it, leaving the distinctive characteristics of their civilizations in architecture, traditions and customs.
With a temperate climate and luxuriant Mediterranean nature, thanks to the long beaches and the rocky promontory, Milazzo is a town with a predominantly seaside tourist vocation that expresses its maximum splendor from the spring months to late autumn.
However, even in the winter months there are countless places of interest and attractions offered by Milazzo and the surrounding area
AEOLIAN ARCHIPELAGO
“Not even by painting it would it be possible to give an idea of this convulsive, fiery and almost melting earth. We couldn’t tell our journey from the dream.” A. Dumas
The Aeolian Islands, also known as the Lipari Islands, are an archipelago of volcanic origin, located in the Tyrrhenian Sea north of the Sicilian coast, a place of wild and rare beauty.
The Islands are named after the god Aeolus, king of the winds, who according to Greek mythology established his residence there, giving them their name, thanks to his reputation as a tamer of the winds.
The first of a long line of illustrious travelers was Ulysses who, as Homer narrates in the Odyssey, arrived in the Aeolian Islands after having survived the Cyclops Polyphemus and was hosted here by Aeolus and honored with the wineskin containing the winds contrary to navigation. would have brought back home.
And so again the archipelago is mentioned by Virgil in the Aeneid with the famous description of the island of Vulcano, a mythological forge where the homonymous god forged metals. The Aeolian archipelago consists of seven islands: Vulcano, Lipari, Salina, Alicudi, Filicudi, Panarea and Stromboli.
They include two active volcanoes, Stromboli and Vulcano, as well as various secondary volcanic phenomena. The archipelago’s thousand-year history is well documented by the Aeolian Regional Archaeological Museum, with its headquarters in Lipari and branches in Filicudi and Panarea.
MONTALBANO ELICONA
On foot or on horseback, along suggestive paths, streams or lakes of clear water, the territory of Montalbano offers pleasant naturalistic excursions to discover landscapes of great charm and mysterious testimonies of ancient civilizations.
The fortresses of Argimusco with its megaliths, the curious pastoral huts called cùbburi, the water mills, the dolmens, the Malabotta wood are a destination not to be missed. In the locality of Argimusco there is a megalithic complex consisting of huge boulders of uncertain origin, perhaps the remains of a prehistoric village.
The cùbburi are of considerable ethno-anthropological interest, which could be military posts of an Ionian-Tyrrhenian communication system, but more likely pre-Romanesque forest-pastoral shelters, true masterpieces of rural engineering capable of guaranteeing an effective defense from the cold . To admire them you need to reach the Polverello plateau.
Finally, to discover the Malabotta wood, which has recently become a nature reserve. Centuries-old trees, dense holly bushes and a few gurgling streams are the seductive frame of a still uncontaminated environment.
In the midst of beech, oak, pine, chestnut trees live undisturbed foxes, dormice, wild boars, martens, birds of prey and even, in the highest part of the forest, the golden eagle.
TINDARI E MARINELLO
“Tindari, meek I know you among wide hanging hills on the waters of the sweet islands of the god, today you attack me and you bend down in your heart…” S. Quasimodo.
Myth, art, culture, fairytale landscapes: this is Tindari, a pleasant town in the Gulf of Patti located within the municipality of the same name in the province of Messina.
Founded in 396 BC from Syracusan mercenaries of the war against Carthage at the behest of Dionysius of Syracuse, the ancient city of Tindari owes its name to Tindaro king of Sparta.
The Sanctuary of the Black Madonna is the main attraction of Tindari. It is located at the eastern end of the promontory, overlooking the sea, in correspondence with the ancient acropolis, where a small church was built on the remains of the abandoned city.
At the foot of the promontory where the Sanctuary of Tindari stands are the Marinello lakes, an arm of the sea of exceptional beauty. It is a large area of sand with brackish water lakes that change continuously due to the tides.
TAORMINA
Taormina lies harmoniously on the cliff, from which it looks towards the sea, the edge of the water below it blurs the white beaches that creep between the ravines of the cliffs, which stretch up to touch the small points emerged in marine waters.
Taormina is also sea and beaches and during the summer, you cannot resist a refreshing bath in the transparent waters of Giardini Naxos or the beaches of Mazzarò, which can be reached by cable car, from Mazzeo and Lido Spisone, where in the evening there is also a disco.
The other beach is that of Isola Bella, a very small island located in the Bay of Taormina, connected to the mainland by a strip of land, visible at low tide. It is a protected natural oasis that offers incomparable naturalistic views.
