THE BOTHY COTTAGE
Our beautiful new refurbished private cottage located within it’s own garden offers lounge, dining room, kitchen. Includes 4 double bedrooms, two of which can twin, with en suite bathrooms. The cottage is suitable for a maximum of 8 guests.
PLUSH JUNIOR SUITES WITH A VIEW
Most located in the South Downs wing, decorated in a traditional or more modern style. Large and open plan, a number feature fabulous four-poster beds. Spa access is between 1pm (day of arrival) and 2pm (day of departure).
COSY ROOMS
Located in the main house these traditionally styled rooms are each unique in character with everything you need. This room is suitable for up to 2 adults only.
FOOD & DRINK
With three restaurants, alfresco dining, The Billiard Bar, lounges and the terrace for coffee or afternoon tea, and private dining rooms open to residents and non-residents alike we have a dining experience and atmosphere for every occasion.
CAMELLIA
Talented Head Chef Josh Mann along with his experienced brigade of chefs take pride in delivering a seasonal menu inspired by the fresh fruit and vegetables from the hotel’s walled garden and the finest local Sussex ingredients.
Camellia is laid out over three rooms giving the restaurant an intimate feel, enhanced with a traditional country house style of decoration with wooden paneling and luxury furnishings.
In the summer months the restaurant is extended outside onto the beautiful terrace offering outstanding alfresco dining. Children are welcome in Camellia and a Little Lodgers menu, that might better suit their taste is available.
BOTANICA
Open everyday for everyone to enjoy, including non-residents, Botanica is our brand new Mediterranean inspired restaurant where head chef Jonathan Spiers draws on the South Downs as a larder for fresh and seasonal ingredients.
Although not totally vegetarian, the menu features a plethora of plant-based plates including our standout dish, the undeniably delicious Wasted Burger, made entirely from the pulp from the freshly prepared morning’s juices.
Botanica offers a warm and welcoming casual dining experience where robes can be worn until 5.45pm.
THE PASS
The Pass is a unique dining location. An intimate restaurant found in the heart of the kitchen, diners are immersed in the experience, able to watch all the action, see dishes created and enjoy all the flavours just by taking a seat.
Specialising in hosting residencies and creating partnerships with chefs who will bring their own style to The Pass for a limited time only. An exciting and interesting time for diners who will be able to experience the talent of different chefs and their menus throughout the year.
Before embarking on his residency in The Pass, Wiltshire born Greg Clarke worked in some of the best Michelin starred restaurants in the UK and Scandinavia.
Notably as Development Chef for Daniel Clifford’s Michelin starred restaurant Midsummer House, together with time spent at The Ledbury in Notting Hill, Restaurant Tom Aikens and more recently at Norway’s Maaemo.
His background paired with his passion for sourcing and foraging the best of the British larder, gives him the creative direction needed to take over a restaurant with such illustrious and renowned history and is delighted to help write this next chapter.
A LUXURY AFTERNOON TEA
A traditional and comforting treat, afternoon tea at South Lodge is a delight. Available in The Camellia restaurant, sitting in one of the lounges in the spring sunshine, relaxing outside on the terrace on a blazing summer’s day, overlooking the display of autumn colours or snuggled deep in a sofa in The Drawing Room during the winter months. THE BILLIARD BAR
The Billiard Bar is a sophisticated bar offering a wide selection of cocktails together with premium spirits and wines. With a relaxed and sociable atmosphere, it is the ideal place to meet for pre and post lunch or dinner drinks. Open daily and welcoming to residential and non residential guests from 10am.

Our cocktail menu takes a journey through the history of South Lodge offering a wide selection of classic cocktails together with a few lesser known, but equally as enticing, recipes. Our experienced bar tenders will be pleased to make recommendations or offer suggestions.

The Spa at South Lodge is a 44,000 sq. ft. luxury spa with a state-of-the-art gym and spin studio, indoor pool, outdoor hydrotherapy pool and wild swimming pool, a thermal suite, treatment rooms for our members, hotel residents and spa day guests.

When evening comes, a delicious dinner awaits you in Botanica, following which, you can relax in the Botanica bar, head back to the hotel and The Billiard Bar or out on the terrace before retiring to your room.

SPA DAYS
With the diary full we are no longer taking new bookings for spa days.
But that does not mean you can’t visit the spa, our overnight bed and breakfast and dinner bed and breakfast packages include full access to the spa throughout your stay, so you can still relax in the pools, rejuvenate in the thermal rooms, enjoy a bite to eat and generally lounge about!

We offer a wide range of body, face and nail treatments in our treatment rooms, mud room and Ridgeview Beauty Bar.
All our treatments use luxurious brand products, carefully selected for their company philosophies and results driven properties. With the exception of manicures and pedicures treatments are available to residential guests and members only.
OMOROVICZA GOLD BODY TREATMENT
The proven anti-inflammatory properties of gold in this treatment helps to heal and revitalise the skin. An invigorating exfoliation with a golden sugar scrub and a soothing application of fragrant oil enriched with gold particles leaves the body soothed, hydrated and radiant.

For our spa guests who are after something a little more casual, The Watershed serve a selection of drinks and light bites for those relaxing by our swim pond throughout the day during the summer months.
WEDDINGS
In the heart of the dramatic Sussex Downs, South Lodge is the perfect venue for all seasons. In spring we welcome a striking display of rhododendrons. Our outdoor wedding pavilion offers the unique opportunity to marry with a panoramic view of the Downs in summer.
Set within the 93 acres of parkland, plenty of vibrant colours in the autumn set a theme for your wedding day, and candlelit ceremonies and roaring log fires add to the atmosphere of romance when there is a chill in the winter air.

If you are out and about on the tourist trail, Sussex has many renowned attractions like Petworth House, Wakehurst Place and Brighton Pavilion. All have easy and straightforward access from South Lodge being so close to the major roads and train stations.

Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens described as ‘The Finest Woodland Gardens in England.’ First planted in 1801, the Grade I listed gardens on the 240-acre estate features outstanding scenery throughout the year and is particularly majestic as it blooms in spring or takes on the glorious colours of autumn. NYMANS GARDENS, HANDCROSS
Own by the National Trust, Nymans is a garden lovers’ home for all seasons, with an extensive yet intimate garden set around a romantic house and ruins. Distance: 4 miles | 8 minutes approximately
HIGH BEECHES, HANDCROSS
With 27 acres of woodland, water gardens, and a collection of rare, exotic and award-winning plants, High Beeches Garden is a botanical treasure trove, and one of Sussex’s finest gardens.

EXPLORE LEONARDSLEE GARDENS
In 2019, Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens opened its doors after a closure of 10 years, this magnificent Grade 1 listed garden was nearly lost forever and has been the subject of the largest garden restoration in England and possibly Europe.
These spectacular and ancient gardens are now open for the public to enjoy once again. Many people in the local area have fond memories of their visits and life around these gardens, and we aim to protect this magnificent heritage so that future generations get to enjoy these beautiful green spaces and flora and fauna within.
There is plenty of space for children to run around and explore, with the resident Wallabies and doll house exhibition being a highlight for young and old. Distance: Opposite South Lodge!
BORDE HILL GARDENS
Borde Hill Gardens is the perfect place for children to explore and let their imaginations run wild. With discovery trails and activities throughout the school holidays, plus a new Adventure Playground located within the Garden, there’s plenty to keep families occupied during the open season.
Visit the adventure playground, explore the garden on a school holiday discovery trail, picnic in the garden or by the lakes, bring a ball to kick, or a kite to fly in the parkland (ball games are not permitted in the Garden), play hide-and-seek in the woodland, cool down with a treat from the ice cream hut (peak times only) or refuel at the Gardeners’ Retreat Cafe. EASTER AT WAKEHURST
With more than 500 acres of gardens, woodlands and a nature reserve, there are plenty of things to do with kids at Wakehurst:
- Tree Trunk Trek – Crawl, climb and get to know Wakehurst’s trees on the adventurous log trail in Coates Wood.
- Natural Play Spaces – Natural play spaces are scattered across Wakehurst for kids to explore during summer holidays. Look out for woven willow structures to run through, a labyrinth, an acoustic chair and some talking totem poles.
- Kids activities at the Millennium Seed Bank – Discover the underground secrets of the Millennium Seed Bank on a day out with the kids and spy on scientists at work in the world’s largest seed conservation project.
